2008 civics test · Question 50 of 100 · Rights and Responsibilities

Name one right only for United States citizens.

In Chinese 说出一项只有美国公民才享有的权利。

Official answers

  • vote in a federal election在联邦选举中投票
  • run for federal office竞选联邦公职

Any one of these answers is accepted unless the question asks for more than one.

Why this is the answer

Most rights in the Constitution protect everyone in the United States, but a few are only for citizens. Only citizens can vote in federal elections, and only citizens can run for federal office such as Congress or President. These rights let citizens choose the nation's leaders and become leaders themselves.
