2008 civics test · Question 16 of 100 · System of Government

Who makes federal laws?

In Chinese 谁制定联邦法律?

Official answers

  • Congress国会
  • Senate and House (of Representatives)参议院和众议院
  • (U.S. or national) legislature(美国或全国)立法机构

Any one of these answers is accepted unless the question asks for more than one.

Why this is the answer

Congress, the national legislature, makes federal laws. Congress is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives, and a bill must pass both chambers before it goes to the President. That is why Congress, the Senate and House, or the U.S. legislature are all correct answers.
