2008 civics test · Question 34 of 100 · System of Government
Who vetoes bills?
In Chinese 谁否决法案?
Official answer
- the President总统
Why this is the answer
The President can veto, meaning reject, a bill passed by Congress. This is one of the checks and balances: it lets the executive branch check the legislative branch. Congress can still override a veto if two-thirds of both the Senate and the House vote to do so.
