What does the judicial branch do?

In Chinese

Official answers

  • Reviews laws
  • Explains laws
  • Resolves disputes (disagreements) about the law
  • Decides if a law goes against the (U.S.) Constitution

Any one of these answers is accepted unless the question asks for more than one.

Why this is the answer

The judicial branch, made up of the courts, reviews and explains laws and settles disagreements about what the law means. Through judicial review, courts can decide whether a law goes against the U.S. Constitution, and if it does, the law cannot be enforced. This is the judiciary's main check on the other two branches.
