Why this is the answer

The Civil War began with the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861. Antietam (Sharpsburg) was one of the bloodiest battles, and soon after, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. In 1863, Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg were major turning points, and in 1864 Sherman's March cut through the South. The war effectively ended with the surrender at Appomattox in 1865, and Lincoln was assassinated shortly after. Name any one.
