What amendment says all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are U.S. citizens?

In Chinese 哪条修正案规定:所有在美国出生或归化并受其管辖的人都是美国公民?

Official answer

  • 14th Amendment第十四修正案

Why this is the answer

The 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868 after the Civil War, begins with the Citizenship Clause: all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to its jurisdiction, are citizens. It was adopted largely to guarantee citizenship to formerly enslaved people. It is also why children born in the U.S. are generally citizens and why naturalized citizens are full citizens. Remember: 14th = citizenship.
