2008 civics test · Question 24 of 100 · System of Government

Who does a U.S. Senator represent?

In Chinese 美国联邦参议员代表谁?

Official answer

  • all people of the state本州的全体人民

Why this is the answer

A U.S. Senator represents all the people of the state, not just one district. Since every Senator is elected by voters across the whole state, they speak for everyone who lives there. This differs from a Representative, who represents the people of one congressional district.
