2008 civics test · Question 7 of 100 · Principles of American Government

How many amendments does the Constitution have?

In Chinese 宪法有多少条修正案?

Official answer

  • twenty-seven (27)27 条

Why this is the answer

The Constitution currently has twenty-seven (27) amendments. The first ten are the Bill of Rights, and the other seventeen were added over the following two centuries. The small number shows how hard it is to change the Constitution, since each amendment needs approval from both Congress and three-fourths of the states.
